The Psychology of Customer Satisfaction and Undeliverable Mail

Mail that cannot be delivered to the intended recipient because of incomplete, inaccurate, or illegible addressing, or because the receiver has moved and has not provided a forwarding address, is referred to as undeliverable mail. Postage shortages or restricted access to the delivery location may also render such mail undeliverable. When feasible, postal services usually try to return undeliverable items to the sender. In accordance with postal regulations, the letter may be delivered to a specified facility for additional handling, storage, or disposal if no return address is given.
